Timer

Timer feature is easily accessible; all you need to do is hover over Time and select My Time Clock from the dropdown menu.

Before starting the timer, you can specify details like the job, task, or even attach notes and files. This is especially helpful if you want to add context to your time entries or document what you’ve been working on.

While the timer is running, you can switch to a different task using the Switch button without needing to stop the clock. This makes it easy to juggle multiple responsibilities and ensures every billable minute is tracked. If you need a break, there’s also a Start Break button that pauses your session without ending it.

All tracked time is automatically recorded in your timesheet and neatly organized by date and task, so you have a clear overview of your weekly activity. This is very useful for field teams who want to keep a precise record of employees’ work hours.

Auto-Start GPS tracking

If you’re looking for an “AutoTrack” feature like the one in Clockify, where the app quietly logs the websites and apps you use, ClockShark doesn’t offer that.

Instead, what ClockShark calls Auto-Start GPS Tracking is essentially an automatic version of its GPS tracking system. When employees clock in through the app, GPS tracking starts automatically in the background. It records employees’ locations throughout the workday and displays them on a map, along with timestamps.

It’s the ClockShark’s core feature, ideal for managing remote teams, like construction, landscaping, or repair teams, but it’s not the same thing as passive desktop tracking.

So if you’re hoping to monitor how your team spends their time on-screen (like which tools or apps they’re using), ClockShark doesn’t go that deep. But if your main concern is where your employees are working from, this feature does the job well.

Timesheet

ClockShark’s timesheet feature lets employees log their hours manually or by clocking in and out, and then submit them for manager approval. It’s simple, but it covers all the basics you’d expect from a time-tracking tool designed for field teams.

During my ClockShark review, I noticed that you can view and edit timesheets by day, week, or pay period, depending on your workflow. Managers can also add time on behalf of employees, which is useful when someone forgets to clock in or out.

The invoicing tools are straightforward. You can generate invoices based on tracked time and expenses, then export or email them to clients quickly. There are also options to customize things like invoice headers, footers, and tax rates, which helps tailor your invoices to your business needs.

Plus, ClockShark offers an online payment processing feature called “ClockShark Payments,” making it easier for customers to pay their invoices directly.

That said, while these features cover the essentials and add some convenience, they might not be as advanced or flexible as dedicated invoicing or accounting software. So, if you need more complex billing tools, you might find this a bit limited.

At first glance, ClockShark’s interface may seem less intuitive, and new users might need some time to get familiar with the layout and navigation.

However, the design is actually clean, straightforward, and focused on practicality. It doesn’t aim to impress with flashy visuals but prioritizes clarity and functionality, especially for field service teams.

ClockShark’s integrations

ClockShark currently allows integration with only nine software tools.

While Zapier expands the possibilities, the limited number of integrations means that companies with more complex systems may find themselves relying on third-party apps or a manual system.

On the bright side, you can connect ClockShark with several payroll and accounting software. This allows businesses to automatically sync employee hours and job costing with their existing payroll systems.

During this trial, you can test everything from scheduling and location tracking to reporting and integrations. Even better, any data you enter (like jobs, timesheets, or employee profiles) stays saved in your account if you decide to upgrade later, so there is no need to start over.

During my ClockShark review, I discovered that even though I was on the 14-day free plan, ClockShark had already generated an “Upcoming Invoice” for me. That seemed odd at first, but it turns out this is just part of how their billing preview works.

I would recommend this pricing plan to smaller businesses.

Cons of ClockShark

My first con is that new users can’t complete their initial login using the mobile app and must instead log in for the first time through a desktop or laptop web browser. This can be inconvenient for teams that mainly rely on mobile devices.

At first, I also noticed the ClockShark website was quite slow and struggled to load properly. Thankfully, this issue seems resolved now, as the site loads quickly and smoothly during my recent tests. The mobile app worked fine from the start.
