A simple and intuitive time tracking app for freelancers and professionals
MinuteShark is a time tracking app for freelancers and solo professionals to track time, manage projects, and invoice them. Ultimately, MinuteShark focuses on tracking time, organizing work, and getting a clear picture of how your day is spent.
Let’s take a closer look at the features!
MinuteShark key features

Here, I guide you through the key features I tried throughout my MinuteShark review.
Dashboard

MinuteShark offers a solid dashboard where you can access your starred tasks, notes, to-do list, history, and more. You have some customization options here, so you can decide whether to add the starred tasks, notes, to-do list, or Pomodoro timer to the dashboard.
Furthermore, you can create clients, tasks, and projects with a few clicks from your dashboard. It is useful when setting up your workspace, and you want to quickly add the most important clients and projects.
Lastly, it offers a search function to quickly reach the tasks you are looking for.
Time tracking

To start tracking your time, first, you need to add a client, project, and task. Once they are selected, you can hit the timer, and you can see your time spent on the right side.
The timer is pretty straightforward. You can stop and start the timer with one click. However, if you need to switch to another task, you need to enter the projects.

With MinuteShark, you can set up notifications if the timer has been running for a specific time, when the timer is running after a specific time, or if you are still working on a task.
If you scroll down on your homepage, you can manually create time entries for the selected task. That said, if you forgot to track your time, you can manually adjust it using this feature.
Project and task management

MinuteShark allows you to create projects and related tasks. As mentioned, these are necessary to track time.
You can add new projects and tasks with a few clicks. Just click on “New Project”, select the client, and you start creating tasks. It’s easy and fast to create tasks for your project. When adding tasks, you can utilize tags for easier tracking.

Once you created all the projects, just click on the “Projects” option on the left sidebar, and you will see all the created projects, including clients and tags. Also, you can filter on them on this page.
Clients

The client creation works similarly to the way you create projects. Just click on “New Client”, enter the name, write a description including contact info & more, and select a tag.
The process is straightforward and important as well. If you fail to connect your projects with your clients, you can not properly issue your invoices & the reports will be incorrect.
Reports

Using MinuteShark, you can generate reports about the time spent with your specific client. You can select a timeframe, the person who worked on it, and you will access the report.
The report includes a breakdown by date, client, project, task, user, or team. You can export the data with one click or create an invoice.
I appreciated the way the invoicing feature was built into the reports. It makes the invoiced amount more transparent, as it is backed by data.
Let’s discuss a bit more about the invoices!
Invoices

First, you need to set up your cost profile for invoicing. It’s a list of hourly costs and/or billable rates for your users or teams. It helps you to track financials in reports and prepare invoices.
You can create different cost profiles for different clients, so you have the flexibility to add customized rates. Besides setting up your billing rate, you can also add billing rates for teams.
Before creating your first invoice, I recommend checking your settings and inserting your company details and tax information.
Trackers
MinuteShark lets you set trackers to stay within your budget. You can add your time estimate, budget, billable hours, and alerts.
With this feature, you can set up a time estimate milestone alert when you reach the 25%, 50%, or the selected percentage of the total estimated time. In addition, you can create a cost milestone alert with the same methodology.
