pdfFiller Review 2026: Here is what surprised me

After testing 30-40 PDF editors, I did not expect any surprise when I started my pdfFiller review. But honestly, it showed me something new.

It offers a signing and editing solution that lets users sign and edit documents, send them for signature, and manage the full electronic document workflow on a single platform.

What makes pdfFiller special compared to other PDF editors is its powerful document management & team collaboration features. It lets you quickly share folders, documents, and templates with teammates. But I will elaborate on this in more detail.

PDF reading

Before delving into the PDF reading tools, just a heads-up: while it offers downloadable apps on Windows and Mac, pdfFiller is an online-first PDF editor. Users can upload files from various sources, including local drives, Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive, to read PDFs.

pdfFiller offers the essential PDF reading tools. That said, you can zoom in and out and adjust the view of a PDF to “fit to page”. You can find the navigation panel located at the bottom of the screen to easily move between pages.

PDF editor

When it comes to editing PDF files, you have all the tools you need. You only need to click on the text box you want to adjust, and plenty of options will appear above. You can remove the text boxes, change the font type or size, increase or decrease the opacity level, and more.

On the top sidebar, you can add or edit images. Once you upload an image or PDF, pdfFiller will save it in the library, and you can add it anytime to your PDF files.

I loved the wide range of options when it comes to the pictures. You can easily move them around, change the size, flip, rotate, crop, erase, and adjust them. This feature makes pdfFiller an ideal solution for those who work with many pictures in PDF files.

In a nutshell, pdfFiller has all the tools to edit PDFs effectively, and I was very satisfied with these tools during testing.

Annotate PDF documents

This cloud-based platform offers many annotation tools, from highlighting to adding sticky notes to your PDF documents. I noticed that during my pdfFiller review that all the annotation tools are highly customizable.

Just an example: you can adjust the opacity level of the highlight, its color, and size. While these are small details, they can help a lot when dealing with your PDF files.

pdfFiller offers a blackout feature for PDF redaction. With this tool, you can remove sensitive data from your documents easily.

In addition to these features, pdfFiller has drawing tools and allows you to add comments, underline, and italicize text boxes.

To wrap it up, pdfFiller is a solid web app when it comes to the annotation tools, and I enjoyed using them throughout my review.

Organizing PDFs

On the left, you can access tools to rearrange pages. Just click the three dots to delete, add, duplicate, or move pages around.

All these features worked smoothly during my pdfFiller review & found it easy to use.

Forms and electronic signatures

You can fill and create forms with pdfFiller. Using this PDF editor, you can add basic fillable fields, checkboxes, dates, and signatures.

When it comes to electronic signatures, pdfFiller offers a massive feature set to sign PDFs. It is an enterprise-grade eSignature solution that offers SOC 2 Type II & ISO 27001 certifications for trust and legal validity.

pdfFiller allows you to draw, upload, and capture your signatures with your webcam. Additionally, you can add your signatures via QR code, text, and email.

Security features

pdfFiller provides protection for your sensitive documents through passwords. To add password protection for your files, go to your dashboard, hit the three dots, select tools, and click on “Protect document”.

You only need to type the password and click “Apply”. This way, whoever wants to open the PDF file needs to enter the password every time. pdfFiller uses 256-bit encryption, secure AWS storage, and audit trails to protect sensitive documents.

Converting PDFs

There are two ways to convert PDFs into other formats. First, select the “all the tools” option on your homepage, and you can find the PDF conversion features there. Second, if you work with a specific PDF file, you can simply save it as another format.

With pdfFiller, you can convert PDF files into JPEG, Excel, PPT, and Word documents. Also, it works vice versa, so you can convert a Word document into a PDF file.

Compressing PDF files

PDF compression is useful when you want to send documents via email and are not sure if the PDF go through. Next to the “Done” button, click the compress PDF option, and you can choose the format, where to save, document quality, and file size.

Team features

One of the features that makes pdfFiller stand out is its team collaboration features. First of all, pdfFiller allows users to securely share edited PDFs with teammates through various methods, including email and links. You can also add comments and mentions directly in the document. This makes the collaboration smooth & fast.

Furthermore, pdfFiller provides shared workspaces, centralized user controls, role-based access, reusable templates, and audit trails for teams to work together on documents.

I particularly loved the option to create reusable templates, which help craft agreements, proposals, invoices, and other repetitive documents faster.

With the Basic Plan, you can edit, fill, draw, and rearrange pages. Also, you can convert your PDF documents into Word files, and get customer support within a day.

The Basic Plan is ideal for personal use for editing and managing your PDFs.

Plus Plan

The Plus Plan costs $30 month-to-month or $12 per month with an annual commitment. It offers some advanced features like smart document tags and folders, password protection, and allows you to create reusable templates and add basic fillable fields.

This plan is an excellent choice for professionals who need more advanced features.

Premium Plan

Personally, I recommend the Premium Plan for those who want to utilize the electronic signatures as well.

pdfFiller offers two paid plans for businesses.

Its Basic Plan for Enterprises is $8 per month per user with annual billing, with a minimum of 20 users. It includes the essential PDF editing, team collaboration, and document management features.

If you need something more powerful for your business, take a look at the Premium Plan for Enterprises at $15 per month with an annual commitment. It starts with a minimum of 10 users and covers an enterprise-grade e-signature feature, integrations, audit trail, premium support, and more.

My experience with pdfFiller

Honestly, pdfFiller surprised me. With its solid team collaboration and document management features, it showed something different after testing many PDF editors.

pdfFiller’s signing and editing solutions allow users to sign documents, edit them, send them for signature, and manage the full electronic document workflow.

As someone who works in a team, it helped a lot in my daily work that I can organize documents in team and personal spaces as well, and I have plenty of options to share documents.

When editing PDFs, it has various tools to manipulate the file. Here, I especially loved how easy it is to add, remove, and adjust images.

If I consider its feature set, the only thing I missed was some more advanced PDF reading features, but apart from that, I was fully satisfied.

Regarding pdfFiller’s pricing, it is a budget-friendly PDF editor, particularly if we consider how much you should pay for Adobe Acrobat or Nitro. The only con here is that pdfFiller does not provide a permanent free plan.

Overall, I was very satisfied with what I saw in the course of my pdFiller review. It is really a special software in the PDF editing space.
